THIS WEEK’S NOTICES
Dear Friends
It is with sadness that I write to tell you that Wentao & I will be relocating to Brighton very soon, meaning that I will no longer be able to serve as your Pastoral Minister. Simon & the PCC Standing Committee have been aware this may happen, though it is only now that I am able to confirm this, following agreement of a formal moving date from our London home.
Since I started attending St Mary’s in 2009, I have felt strongly that this was my spiritual home. Simon, and all of you, have given me the opportunity to spread my wings both spiritually and personally, growing in discipleship, confidence in ministry and in discovery of my true self. For this, and the many great friendships I have built, I will always be in your debt & thankful to God. I plan to continue to serve the church in Brighton, building on all I have learnt and experienced at St Mary’s.
Simon & I have been exploring opportunities for others to train for the Licensed Ministry and we hope to have some good news on this very soon.
There will be a farewell event at church towards the end of September for us all at say a proper ‘au revoir’!
My thanks and love.
Colin Wimsett x
Can you help with any of these jobs for our fete?
¶ We are now ready to collect bottles of all sorts for our Bottle Tombola (it does not need to be alcoholic- just anything in a bottle). Please leave in the gallery.
¶ We need someone to collect the coconut shy (on Friday) and return it (on Monday) from a shop in Carshalton.
¶ We need people to help move things down from the gallery on the evening of Friday 15th September.
¶ We need people to help set up gazebos and tables on the morning of the fair.
¶ And to take them down at the end!
Please sign up or speak to Debbie Apostolides ([email protected])

Coming Soon…FaithWorks 18
St Mary’s is planning a Parish Mission called FaithWorks 18 in the autumn of 2018, which will give us the chance to work alongside our Roman Catholic friends at Sacred Heart, who will also be holding their own Mission to coincide with their 125th Anniversary. FaithWorks 18 aims to do two things:
¶ encourage a renewed commitment to St Mary’s presence and activity in Battersea for the common good in the name of Jesus Christ;
¶ give a chance for members of St Mary’s to bring friends/guests to a variety of enjoyable events that will offer gentle opportunities to consider the life of faith in Jesus Christ;
A planning group is now hard at work putting together a programme for the Mission and a season of prayer and preparation. More details soon.
