Following Jesus Christ is a lifelong journey and involves our inner and outer lives. At St Mary's we have adopted a simple Rule of Life, which we encourage everyone who belongs to explore. It's six very simple commitments – inward and outward – that help us to shape our lives as disciples.
Called to Pray: As a disciple of Jesus at St Mary’s we commit to say The Lord’s Prayer every day, a sign of our unity in prayer.
Called to Read: As a disciple of Jesus at St Mary’s we commit to reading the bible regularly. We commit to providing and guiding you in various ways you can do this.
Called to Learn: As a disciple of Jesus at St Mary’s we commit to learning more about our faith, and we commit to providing a variety of ways of doing this.
Sent to Tell: As a disciple of Jesus at St Mary’s we commit to bearing witness to our faith in word and deed and to Bring One Friend to one of our services or events from time to time.
Sent To Serve: As a disciple of Jesus at St Mary’s we commit to Do Ten Things every year as acts of service, through charity, neighbourliness, political or church work or in any aspect of daily life.
Sent to Give: As a disciple of Jesus at St Mary’s we commit to giving a proportion of our time, our talents and our treasure to the work of the church.
You can find out more about St Mary’s Rule of Life by downloading a booklet here. If you decide to take up this Rule of Life, we encourage you to tell one of the clergy or study group leaders so they can pray for you and help you through advice or a listening ear.
