THIS WEEK’S NOTICES
East African Famine Appeal: There will be second, retiring, collection during our service today and at every Sunday service until Easter Day, to go to the Disaster Emergency Committee East African Famine Appeal. Every pound you donate through St Mary’s will be matched by the Church Council. Please support this urgent appeal.
Taizé Service: we will be holding a special, contemplative style service for Passiontide in Church on Tuesday at 7.30pm. It will be in the style of the Taizé Community and will last an hour. An ideal way to prepare for Holy Week.
Annual Spring Clean: Please join us in helping to prepare our wonderful church for Holy Week and the year ahead next Saturday 8th April from 9am to 12noon. Please sign at the back of the church!
Palm Sunday Concert: In the evening St Mary’s Choir, soloists and an orchestra will be performing a concert of sacred music, including Fauré’s Requiem and the Stabat Mater by Josef Rheinberger (a contemporary of Brahms). This is always a very special evening and it will be free with a retiring collection at 6.00pm
Good Friday Children’s Workshop: This year’s Good Friday workshop is taking place jointly with Sacred Heart Church, Trott Street and will run from 10am to noon. We meet at 10am in the Crypt Emma Tasker has more details and would be glad to hear from you if you are planning to come, so she can plan numbers. [email protected]
Easter Vigil Party. Please sign up at the back of church if you can bring a small plate of food to share, or if you can help serve drinks or tidy up at the end.
Electoral Roll: March is the time when we update our church membership list, known as the Electoral Roll. If you have joined St Mary’s in the past year, and consider it your spiritual home, please fill out an Electoral Roll form available at the back and place it in the labelled box. If you’re on the Roll already you don’t need to do anything unless your details have changed.
St Mary’s Annual Church Meeting: This will be on Tuesday 25th April at 7.30pm, preceded by drinks and nibbles from 7pm. You might like to think about serving your Church or the wider Church of England locally: we shall be electing a People’s Church Warden, four members to serve on Battersea Deanery Synod and three members of the Parochial Church Council. Nomination sheets are on the board at the back of church. There will be a presentation about our forthcoming Parish Mission in 2018.
Parish Safeguarding Officer: With the departure of Felicity Prazak to China, the Church Council has appointed Emma Tasker as Parish Safeguarding Officer. If you have any concerns about a child or vulnerable adult, please contact Emma.
