THIS WEEK’S NOTICES
Dear Friends
It is with sadness that I write to tell you that Wentao & I will be relocating to Brighton very soon, meaning that I will no longer be able to serve as your Pastoral Minister. Simon & the PCC Standing Committee have been aware this may happen, though it is only now that I am able to confirm this, following agreement of a formal moving date from our London home.
Since I started attending St Mary’s in 2009, I have felt strongly that this was my spiritual home. Simon, and all of you, have given me the opportunity to spread my wings both spiritually and personally, growing in discipleship, confidence in ministry and in discovery of my true self. For this, and the many great friendships I have built, I will always be in your debt & thankful to God. I plan to continue to serve the church in Brighton, building on all I have learnt and experienced at St Mary’s.
Simon & I have been exploring opportunities for others to train for the Licensed Ministry and we hope to have some good news on this very soon.
There will be a farewell event at church towards the end of September for us all at say a proper ‘au revoir’!
My thanks and love.
Colin Wimsett x
Confirmation: This year’s Confirmation Service will be at St Mary’s on Sunday 5th November at 4pm. Please contact Simon as soon as possible if you are interested in being confirmed.
Summer Recitals: The free Summer Recitals this afternoon at 3pm, continue with a performance from Riccardo Pes on Cello.
St Mary’s Fair: This year’s Show and Fete is on Saturday 16th September from noon until 4 pm. We are now collecting items for the stalls and are looking for bottles, gifts, Raffle Prizes, books, toys and bric-a-brac in good condition. Please put your items up in the gallery. No Electrical items! Also please sign up at the sheet at the back to help on a stall.
Shoe Boxes: Junior Church needs lots of empty shoe boxes to store things in. If you have any, please would you leave them at the back of the church (right hand side on the pews as you come up the steps). We thought there might be quite a few around towards the end of the summer as people buy new school shoes! Many thanks.
Consultation on Pews & Chairs: Following the recent condition survey and architect’s report on our pews, the PCC will be consulting the congregation during September and October regarding a way forward. There will be a chance for everyone to have their say
