THIS WEEK’S NOTICES
St Mary’s Fair: If you would like to be involved in organising September’s Fair and Show please contact Susanna Williams via the Parish Office. This year’s fair is on Saturday 16th September between 12 and 4 pm.
This year, We are holding a children’s art competition at our September Show and Fair on Saturday 16th September and are keen to get posters and flyers out to as many local schools as possible. The theme of the competition is ‘My view of Battersea.’ If you have contacts at local schools please take some posters and flyers today. They are at the back of church.
Church Open to Visitors: If you can help keep the church open during the Summer, please sign up at the back of church. There are two, two-hour slots each Sunday afternoon. No local history knowledge required. Today we will be serving tea and scones kindly donated by Gail’s Artisan Bakery, Battersea Square.
Summer Sunday Sermons: Would you like a sermon on a special topic, a theological issue, and ethical question or a particular passage of the bible? Please feel free to fill in the enclosed sheet and put your request in the box at the back of church. We will have sermons on some of these requests in the late July/early August period.
Junior Church Over the Summer: We try and give our wonderful Junior Church leaders some time off over the summer while still running a ‘light touch’ Sunday morning group for children. If you can help lead a group for a Sunday from 6th August to the end of August, please contact Cal Alphonse [email protected] or sign up at the back of the church
A Message from the Vicar: This summer I will have been Vicar at St Mary’s for six years and, to my shame, I don’t feel I know some members of St Mary’s as well as I could. In the quieter summer weeks, I would welcome opportunities to visit/have coffee/share a drink with those of you who feel you don’t know me well enough. Feel free to invite me and I will happily make spending time with you a priority. Simon
Surrey Lane Peoples’ Organisation: SLPO are having their Summer Party on Saturday 11th July (1pm – 5pm) on the green between Wigram Court and Fraser Court. In the light of the events at Grenfell Tower, the support of us as local Christians, especially by those who do not live in social housing, would be a welcome sign of solidarity. Cynthia Newman has details ([email protected])
Confirmation 2017: Although our Confirmation Service is not until November, Simon would be glad to hear of anyone interested in being confirmed by the end of July.
St Mary’s Moorings Project: Although the Church Council is not able to make specific details of progress on our Moorings Scheme public, progress is steady, and we hope to able to provide fuller details in the coming weeks.
