Harvest Thanksgiving: Harvest will be kept on Sunday 2nd October this year and there will be a special collection of food and other necessaries for Wandsworth Food Bank. (you can leave them in church before then if you are not here that weekend).
We are having a bring and share lunch after the 11 am service, please sign up at the back of the church.
The Glass Door – Homeless Charity are looking for donations for their nightshelters. They especially need male clothing, toiletries, socks, new underwear, jeans, tee shirts and sleeping bags, also towels and blankets. Please bring any donations to church on Sundays or between 9 and 12.30 on weekdays at the Parish Office. Thank you Libby
Gift from Peter & Alison Wintgens: Peter and Alison have left an incredibly generous gift to St Mary’s of £50,000 and have asked that we consider using it to create a Discipleship Development Fund. Details of the proposal are in a letter on the rear noticeboard. If you would like to comment on this idea, please contact Simon by 11th September. The proposal will be considered at the September PCC meeting.
Peter & Alison Wintgens’ New Address is: 11 Seckford Street, Woodbridge, Suffolk IP12 4LY. Their email address remains unchanged. Telephone please ask in the Parish office.
Remembrance Sunday Concert Trip: On Sunday 13th November at 7.30pm, we are planning a trip to a concert at the Royal Albert Hall for the spectacular Grande Messe des Morts by Berlioz. If you would like to join a group going that evening, please sign up for a ticket at the back. Front of the Circle tickets are about £24 on a group booking. Deadline: 25th September.
Two Sunday Roles
Welcomers: Our welcome team has a new leader in Carol Bailey. Carol is keen to recruit more people to our 11am welcomers’ team and, as a way of encouraging more, is planning to introduce a new rota-based system to replace the once a month approach that the team currently has. Please consider joining the welcomers’ rota. Training will be provided Contact Carol: [email protected]
Sacristans: We’re also introducing a small team of people to assist in the preparation of the communion vessels and associated items, and to clear and wash up after the 11am service. Again, this will be on a rota basis. Please email Simon in his absence to express an interest. There will be a training session at 10am on Sunday 18th September. Feel free to turn up to that.
Advance Notice – Hallowe’en/All Saints’ Party for Children: There will be a special event on the afternoon of Sunday 30th October. A great way to end half-term and to celebrate God’s goodness to people in a fun way. Please put the date in your diary.
