 This Week’s Notices

Flowers this weekhave been donated by Debbie and Chris Apostolides, in celebration of their 30thWedding Anniversary. Congratulations!

Paul Hollely: Paul died in great peace last Monday at Trinity Hospice. His funeral service will be in church in the early afternoon of Thursday 27thJune, the final timing to be confirmed. We send our love and condolences to Ruth.

Safeguarding Training: If you have booked for the training on Saturday morning, please be at church for a prompt start at 10am. Coffee available from 9.45am.

Confirmation Preparation: If you are an adult and might be interested in being baptised and/or confirmed, please contact Simon as soon as possible.

First Communion Classes for children aged 7 or up, will take place during the 11am Sunday service from Sunday 8thSeptember to Sunday 13thOctober, with the admission service on Sunday 20thOctober. Please contact Simon if your child would like to be prepared for admission to communion.

One-Off Changes to Regular Worship Pattern: On Sunday 30thJune, our 11am service will be Choral Matins, in place of Holy Communion. This will be a chance to worship in this form of service that was the mainstay of the Church of England for centuries – it’s the morning equivalent of Choral Evensong. The speaker will be Prudence Dailey, Chair of the Prayer Book Society. There will be a service of Choral Evensong on the evening of 30thJune, the last one before the summer break.

The Choir’s last Sunday this term will be Sunday 7thJuly(there will be no ‘first Sunday’ style service that month).

Relighting & Redecoration Project: This major refurbishment project will begin on Monday 8thJuly and run through the autumn, probably now up to Christmas. In that time, the church will be almost completely out of use during the week and only available for use at weekends. Special arrangements are being made for a weekday worship venue. If you are responsible for anything currently stored in the church or gallery (but not the crypt), please contact David Britten (even if you have done so already) to discuss arrangements for the removal or storage of items currently there by 9am tomorrow morning. Items not thus identified will be treated as disposable after this date. Simon Butler.

Parish Pilgrimage to Walsingham, Saturday 26thOctober: First details of our pilgrimage with Sacred Heart Church to this Anglican/Roman Catholic Shrine in Norfolk are now available at the back. Please sign up soon for coach booking.

Last Friday evening on June 7thWalkers on the Dimbleby Cancer Care Walk 50 Event used the church for their rest stop. Over £34,000 was raised and the organisers are grateful to St Mary’s for their assistance and welcome.
