Lent Musical Meditations: The Way of the Cross. The Sunday evenings of Lent will take the form of simple musical meditations, with our Vicar Simon leading a selection of readings and choices of recorded music to enable prayer and reflection. Each meditation will last an hour and begin at 6pm. Tonight: The Way of the Cross

 

Faith in Faith Schools: This Open Meeting of Battersea Deanery Synod will give local church members a chance to hear of the excellent work going on at our two local church schools. The meeting is at 7.30pm this Thursday 22nd February at St George’s School, Corunna Road, SW8 4JS. All are welcome.

 

All Saints’ Battersea Fields Lent Talks: Franciscan Spirituality in Today’s World: The wonderful Brother Samuel will be speaking at these Friday Evening Lent Talks. Eucharist: 5.30pm, Veggie Meal: 6pm, Talk 7pm to 8pm. Details on poster at back.

 

Farewell to Sunny Walker-Kier- we shall say goodbye and thank you to Sunny on Sunday 18th March, when there will also be a Parish Lunch. If you would like to make a contribution to Sunny’s leaving gift, please send it to the Parish Office, addressed to David Britten. We shall also be welcoming our new Director of Music, James Potter.

 

Callum Anderson: Our Organ Scholar Callum came down with acute appendicitis on Shrove Tuesday evening and was admitted to hospital. We hope he will be back with us before long and wish him a speedy recovery. We are extremely grateful to Douglas Tang for deputizing today and on Ash Wednesday.

 

Welcomers & Intercessors: We’re looking for a few more people to join both of these rotas. If you can help by joining the team of Welcomers, who assist in preparation for worship and in welcoming people to church, please contact Carol Bailey ([email protected]); if you would like to discuss becoming one of those who leads our prayers from time to time, please speak to Simon.

 

2019 Refurbishment: The PCC Fabric Working Group made an in-principle decision this week to commission a set of internal refurbishment works in 2019, which will include work arising from the pew consultation of last year, internal redecoration of the church, creation of a refreshment serving area at the south west corner of the church and improvements to the lighting of the chancel and sanctuary. If you have any suggestions you would like to make about this work, please send them to Roz Massouras, [email protected], who will note them prior to commissioning our architect to prepare the Faculty and other documentation. Work is planned to take place in the autumn of 2019.

 

Katherine Low Settlement Elders’ Team Volunteers: The team at are looking for a few volunteers to support older people in their chair-based exercise classes. Details are on the noticeboard at the back of the church.

 

FaithWorks 18: Forthcoming Events

 

FaithWorks 18: If you’ve not heard much about FaithWorks 18 yet, please take one of the A3 brochures at the back of church.

 

Getting Involved in FaithWorks 18: You’ll see from the brochure that there are a number of big events in the autumn taking place under the FaithWorks banner and we are keen to involve a good number of people in helping to plan and run these events. The Congregational Life Working Group have been conducting a simple survey to find out what you might be willing to help with, is online and in hard copy. Please fill this survey out as soon as possible. Hard copies can be returned to the letter box at the back of church: online surveys will be collated automatically.

 

Community Showcase: The first full planning meeting will take place on Monday 19th February at 8pm in the Crypt. Please come along if you would like to help with the planning.

 

Pilgrimage for Peace and Remembrance to Passchendaele in 2018. If you have signed up please pay your deposit as soon as possible

 

FaithWorks 18: Martyrdom Day Pilgrimage: This event, which was originally scheduled for Saturday 17th March has been rescheduled to Saturday 30th June. This will be a moving, ecumenical walk of prayer with our Roman Catholic friends around the sites of Christian martyrdom, Catholic and Protestant, in Central London. It will last from about 10.30am to 4.30pm and will involve significant amounts of walking (public transport options will be provided). More details nearer the time but please note the change of date.
