Learning and Growing in Faith
Growing in Faith
Courses and Groups
The best way of learning about the Christian faith is by joining a Christian community and taking part in a small group or a short course. At St Mary’s we have a number of small groups and we run a wide variety of courses on a number of topics. You are welcome to join any of them.
Contact Sunny in the Parish Office for more information.
Alpha has become an international phenomenon. Literally millions have completed this course which is a basic introduction to Christianity, based around a simple evening meal, a short talk and a group discussion. You can find more details at www.alpha.org. At St Mary’s we run the Alpha Course in a questioning and inclusive way, in the spirit of our Vision. Please contact the Vicar for details of the next Alpha Course.
St Mary’s usually runs two courses, one for adults and a parallel programme for teenagers wanting to develop their Christian Faith further. This year, our Alpha Course served as the core of our confirmation preparation with further sessions added at the end.
Confirmations take place in the Battersea area every year, although not always at St Mary’s. If you are interested in being confirmed, please contact the clergy.
St Mary’s runs several lecture courses throughout the year on a wide variety of subjects. Recent courses have included: Ways of Praying, Death & The Afterlife in the World’s Religions and Difficult Passages in the Bible.
