Finding Us

St Mary’s stands on the banks of the River Thames, on Battersea Church Road. We can be found on page 92 of the standard A to Z.

On Foot: St Mary’s can be found on the Thames path, a ten-minute walk from Battersea Bridge or the London Heliport.

By Bike: Cycle Superhighway 8 is not far from the church and there are TfL bike hire sites in Battersea Church Road and Vicarage Crescent.

By Bus: The 170 Bus, which travels between Roehampton and Victoria Station via Clapham Junction, passes next to the church when coming from Victoria, and stops in Westbridge Road just after Battersea Square when coming from Clapham Junction.
Other bus routes from Kensington, Chelsea, Streatham, Brixton – 19, 219, 319, 49 and 345 stop at the corner of Battersea Bridge Road and Battersea Church Road, just a short walk away.

By Train or Tube: The nearest mainline stations are Clapham Junction and Victoria. A 170 bus will then take you to the church. The nearest tube stations are South Kensington, Victoria and Sloane Square from which a 345 or 49, a or a 19 or 319 bus will take you to Battersea Bridge. It is a short walk West along the river bank to the church.

By Car: Car parking is a problem in the area. Many people who drive try to park in Battersea High St, in Westbridge Road, or further east along Battersea Church Road. Meter parking is free on Sundays. There is limited parking in the Churchyard, but not for weddings and funerals when the Churchyard is closed to vehicular access.

Access for Wheelchair Users and People with Disabilities: The church has a lift for disabled access and there is limited car parking in the church grounds for people with disabilities. The directions to the lift are clearly marked in the churchyard: we recommend wheelchair users enter the churchyard by the small pedestrian gate close to the outer car park to provide step-free access to the lift.
