Welcome to Philip Krinks

Some thoughts from Simon to welcome our stipendiary curate

From time to time, we get the opportunity to welcome a full-time stipendiary curate to St Mary’s. Dr Philip Krinks, who is soon to graduate from Westcott House, Cambridge, will be joining us at the end of June. Philip is 41 and is married to Claudia. They have two children, George and Anna, who are of primary school age.

The family will be moving into our house in Kerrison Road in early June, prior to Philip’s ordination as a deacon on Saturday 28th June in Southwark Cathedral (sadly a ticket-only event, with St Mary’s represented by me and the church wardens).

I am sure that St Mary’s will want to continue its long tradition of making curates and their familes very welcome. Philip will be with us for between three and four years, so there is plenty of time for many of you to get to know him. However, there are two very practical steps that will offer them a warm introduction to the church:

  • It would be lovely to have a kitchen cupboard full of lovely welcome items. We shall put a goodie box at the back of the church throughout May for your welcome gift.
  • Come along to the Welcome Lunch for the family (and for Colin Wimsett, who is Commissioned as a Pastoral Minister by the Bishop in June as well!) on Sunday 29th June after the 11am service. This will replace the regular June Parish Lunch. Look out for more details in the weekly notices or in church.
