September Highlights at St Mary’s
The arrival of September always brings a sense of starting over again: children return to school, many of us have holidays in the past rather than ones to look forward to, and – of course – the shops put out their Christmas stock!
However, there’s a long way to go before Christians celebrate Christmas and at St Mary’s the autumn brings a number of highlights, both fresh and familiar. Opening links in the newsletter will reveal more about a number of these.
St Mary’s Fair: Saturday 19th September, noon until 4pm
Don’t forget that this big community and fundraising event is fast approaching. We need a lot of help both in providing gifts and stall items for sale plus help on the day itself. There are details at the back of church, flyers and posters to collect. You can get more details or volunteer by contacting Miriam on [email protected]
Open House London: Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th September
St Mary’s has played a part for a number of years in this London-wide opening of public buildings and private homes. St Mary’s will be specially open to visitors this weekend, not just during the Fair but across the weekend. We always look for hosts to welcome visitors and there is a rota in church to volunteer as a welcome. More details though from Libby at [email protected]
Harvest Thankgsiving: Sunday 27th September
Harvest will be observed at all our services on the last Sunday of September. Details of the collection for the Wandsworth Foodbank are elsewhere in this newsletter.
The Blessing of Pets: Sunday 4th October (St Francis Day)
A first for St Mary’s! We hope to be joined by pet owners and their pets from around the parish. A chance to give thanks for the animal kingdom and the place in our lives and families played by pets. A link elsewhere in the newsletter provides more details in a flyer.
