We have had a great time in Junior Church this month!
On the 12th of February we focused on Matthew 5.13-20 in which Jesus teaches his disciples that they are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We covered a tray in salt and wrote the names of people we wanted to pray for in it. We then made crowns of light to illustrate how we can all be a shining light in the world.
In Junior Church on Sunday 19th we looked at Matthew 5.38-48 in which Jesus tells us to be generous and love everyone around us including our enemies. In the Rocks group we talked about who loves us and who we find it difficult to love. We then drew pictures of all these people and gave thanks to God for always being with us. In the Pebbles, we talked about our friends and how we should try and be friends with everyone. We then drew cards explaining things about us to give to our new friends.
On Sunday 26th we looked at Matthew 17, which shows us that Jesus is both fully human and fully divine. We watched the story as a YouTube video. We were particularly interested by the line, ‘This is my son, the Beloved, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to him.’ We talked about what it meant to ‘listen’ to Jesus and how we could live our lives in the way he shows us.
We ended the month with our Pancake day party but you will have to read next month’s newsletter to find out what happened!
