Have you seen the Matrix trilogy? For those of you who have you’ll remember in Matrix Revolutions during the last battle between Agent Smith and Neo; Agent Smith reiterates what the oracle said to Neo in Matrix reloaded: ‘Everything that has a beginning has an end, Neo’. The saying originates from Santosh Kalwar — ‘Every beginning has an end and every end has a new beginning, don’t worry, broken soul, life will one day come to an end. ‘ A Nepalese born writer of literature, fiction, poetry, computers and the internet.
I had the great privilege of interviewing Peter & Alison Wintgens in advance of their farewell Service on Sun 24th July which aired on Sunday Joy (Every Sunday 9am-10am online www.wandsworthradio.com) prior to the Service on Wandsworth Radio. The feedback has been so positive on gaining greater insight into Peter and Alison as people. The Wintgens are quite exemplary as disciples of Christ so it was only fitting to have a show dedicated to the examples of Christian living they have set and the model they have formed on moving on to the next phase of life’s journey’s.
The phased ending of the Wintgens Ministry at St Mary’s prompted thoughts of the movie title ‘The long kiss goodnight’ as observation sees the passing of the baton of their works to others and saying goodbye in a phased process. We had our last Ministry team away day in Brighton in July. The sun shone on our day at Brighton beach as the Ministry team as it has been known was once again being reformed into something else. A picture of us on Brighton beach as we each contemplate and reflect on our future Ministry apart.
Our Parish Administrator Sunny being Austrian has a cultural connection to Peter having lived in Germany for some time and speaks fluent German. In his honour Sunny dressed in traditional attire for the farewell service and picnic.
A beautiful Service with past St Mary’s members returning some from outside of London, members of the community and of course existing Church members filled the Church to say farewell and witness the blessing of Peter and Alison Wintgens in thanks for the Ministry and Service and as they journey on.
