Glass Door provides a safe, warm place to sleep for 85 to 100 men and women a night in partnership with churches across the boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and, for the first time this year, Wandsworth.

GLASS DOOR, formerly West London Churches Homeless Concern (WLCHC)

In the notices I have asked people to start donating items of clothing and toiletries for Glass Door, London’s largest emergency winter night shelter, which will start opening its shelters in November. Glass Door provides a safe, warm place to sleep for 85 to 100 men and women a night in partnership with churches across the boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and, for the first time this year, Wandsworth.

Guests experiencing homelessness can also access advice, food, showers and laundry facilities from drop-in day centres. Glass Door not only saves lives by providing refuge from the cold, but also helps its guests build more stable futures.

Can You Help? – They need the following:

Sleeping Bags

Bags, particularly rucksacks

Shoes and boots in decent condition

Clothing, especially warm winter clothes, including used winter coats, jeans, t-shirts, sweaters, socks and new underwear.

Toiletries of all kinds, particularly shampoo, men’s razors and women’s sanitary products.

Please bear this in mind as you turn out your wardrobes or go shopping!

Items can be brought to church on Sundays or the parish office between 9.30 and 12.30 on weekdays. Carol Bailey has been kindly taking these to Glass Door during the past year and, now I have a vehicle again, we will both be able to keep this going.  If you have items but it is difficult for you to take them to the church please let me know at [email protected] or on 07956 655037.

Thank you
