St Mary’s and Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church are holding a special Quiet Day at the beginning of Advent, aimed at three groups: the recently-confirmed, those who have done the Alpha Course and those who’ve never been on a Quiet Day before
The Quiet Day will follow the theme “Jesus Speaks…”. If you’ve not been on a Quiet Day, this will provide an excellent introduction to a way of taking a few hours out, offering a way of focusing during the season of Advent on the way God speaks to us in the midst of our busy lives. For those of you who have been confirmed, it will be a useful time to check in with God and yourselves about how your journey of faith is progressing.
The date for the Quiet Day will be Saturday 3rd December and it will run from 10.30am until 3pm, including lunch. I am pleased to say that there will be no charge for those who have been confirmed or have completed Alpha in recent years. Others are welcome to make a donation to cover costs.
The speaker will be Father Gerry O’Shaughnessy SDB, the new Roman Catholic Parish Priest at Sacred Heart Church in Trott Street, who brings a wealth of exeprience in prayer, education and ministry with young people. The venue will be at the new Salesian House in Surrey Lane, which will allow us to use the beautiful new chapel and gardens that form part of the new complex for the Salesian community of priests who live there now.
If you would like to book, please contact Simon or the Parish Office or sign up at the back of church.
WeI realise that December is always a busy time but there is an opportunity to take some time in the season of Advent, a time like Lent for spiritual preparation for Christmas, to focus on God instead of Christmas shopping and parties!
