The Thursday Group is becoming the Advent Group, offering a short course during Advent, and then another after Christmas for 4 weeks in the Epiphany Season, using a book called Waiting and Watching by Joyce Huggett. Everyone is welcome (the books are free) and we would especially welcome people who may not have tried a home group before or would like to commit to only a few weeks at a time. Sign up for either one or both of the 4 week courses at the back; it would really be helpful if you could sign up on the sheet so books can be ordered. The group meets from 1:30pm – 3pm on Thursday afternoons in the upper vestry – with biscuits and real coffee provided! Contact Leslie ([email protected]).
Children’s Society: Christmas cards are on display at the back of the church ready for ordering. Please support vulnerable children and buy your cards here!
Lighting Project: The PCC is moving ahead with the plans to relight the church following agreement at last week’s meeting. Full details of the entire project and the redecoration project are on the plans in the south aisle.
New Hymn Books: The PCC was glad to receive a bequest from the late Diana Goodwin, which it agreed should be used to replace the long-standing New English Hymnalwith a more contemporary, yet traditional, hymn book, Common Praise. We shall begin using this book from Advent Sunday. The remainder of the bequest will be use to update, repair or replace, the dilapidated Church Road noticeboard.
