Today is Pledge Sunday when we offer our pledge of financial stewardship for the year ahead. If you’ve not received a pledge pack by email or have forgotten to bring your pledge card today, please take a pack marked ‘Friend of St Mary’s’ at the back and bring your pledge card back as soon as possible. Thank you.

Admission of Children to Holy Communion: Six weeks of classes begin this Wednesday at 4:45pm – 5:30pm. Please contact Simon if your child would like to be admitted to communion. Admission Service: 16th December at 11am.

Armistice Centenary Remembrance Sunday: As well as the morning Borough Remembrance Service, there is also a special Armistice Central Choral Evensong at 6pm. Please invite your friends and family to join in a more reflective service on this important anniversary.

The Friends of Battersea Parish Church are holding a fundraising concert on Sunday 25thNovember at 3.00pm. Susanna Hogan (soprano) and Stephen Maugham (Piano). Tickets: £15 from Bob Cooles or on 07396 334055.

The Thursday Group is becoming the Advent Group, offering a short course during Advent, and then another after Christmas for 4 weeks in the Epiphany Season, using a book called Waiting and Watching by Joyce Huggett. Everyone is welcome (the books are free) and we would especially welcome people who may not have tried a home group before or would like to commit to only a few weeks at a time. Sign up for either one or both of the 4 week courses at the back; it would really be helpful if you could sign up on the sheet so books can be ordered. The group meets from 1:30pm – 3pm on Thursday afternoons in the upper vestry – with biscuits and real coffee provided! Contact Leslie ([email protected]).

Children’s Society: Christmas cards are on display at the back of the church ready for ordering. Please support vulnerable children and buy your cards here!

Lighting Project: The PCC is moving ahead with the plans to relight the church following agreement at last week’s meeting. Full details of the entire project and the redecoration project are on the plans in the south aisle.

New Hymn Books: The PCC was glad to receive a bequest from the late Diana Goodwin, which it agreed should be used to replace the long-standing New English Hymnalwith a more contemporary, yet traditional, hymn book, Common Praise. We shall begin using this book from Advent Sunday. The remainder of the bequest will be use to update, repair or replace, the dilapidated Church Road noticeboard.
