GLASS DOOR, formerly West London Churches Homeless Concern (WLCHC)
Have you got a sleeping bag to spare? How about a bath towel? Glass Door, London’s largest emergency winter night shelter, will open its shelters on 7th November this year. These shelters are in Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and, since last year, Wandsworth. In addition, Glass Door provides advice, food, showers and laundry facilities from drop-in day centres all year round to those experiencing homelessness.
How can we help?
Ed Standring raised over £4000 for Glass Door by taking part in the Prudential 100 mile cycle ride at the end of June. Congratulations Ed!
Sleep Out on Friday 6th October, 9.30pm – Saturday 7th October 6am at Duke of York Square, Chelsea. Participants must be at least 11 years old and those between 11 and 15 must be accompanied. All are encouraged to raise at least £500 in sponsorship. For more information, email or ring: [email protected] or 020 7351 4948. If you can’t take part sponsor someone who can!
In-Kind Donations: The success of in-kind donations means that currently they have enough of, and no space to store, many of the usual items of clothing. However they do need the following:
- Bath towels
- Disposable razors
- Sleeping bags
These items can be brought to church on Sundays or to the parish office between 9.30 and 12.30 on weekdays. If you have items to donate but it is difficult for you to take them to the church please let me know at [email protected] or on 07956 655037.
More next month!
