The Bishop of Kingston, Rt. Revd. Dr. Richard Cheetham, came to St Mary’s first thing on Monday 24th January, to licence Reverend Joe Moore as Curate of St Mary’s. Joe has been on placement with us in Battersea since August and the people of St Mary’s have been thrilled with his ministry in that time. Following discussions between Joe’s previous parish, the Bishop of Southwark and Canon Simon Butler, the Vicar of St Mary’s, everyone agreed that it would an excellent idea for Joe to continue his ministerial formation under Simon’s guidance for the rest of his curacy.
A mark of the affection in which Joe is already held was that, without any particular invitation, 25 members of the church turned up on Monday morning for our regular service of Morning Prayer, during which the Bishop licensed Joe.
Joe will serve at St Mary’s for the rest of his curacy training period, up to the summer of 2023.
