The Second Battersea Jazz Festival is taking place from Thursday 6th July to Sunday 6th August; all events are free admission. This year, the festival will be taking place across the whole of July, with a extra date in August, and at a larger number of venues. The plan is for the festival to stretch across the whole of Battersea, from the river, up to Clapham Junction and Lavender Hill, through Battersea Park, the Power Station, and into Nine Elms. As always, events will be free of charge and will feature some of the very best musicians that London’s incredible jazz scene has to offer.A highlight of the Festival is the Jazz Mass at St Mary’s on Sunday 16th July at 11am, where Hugo Jennings will direct St Mary’s Choir, and a team of first-rate musicians in his own setting of the Mass. The Jazz Mass will be followed by an afternoon of jazz in the church yard from 1pm to 4pm. There will also be a performance by internationally-acclaimed band “Five-Way Split” at St Mary’s at 7:30pm on Sunday 23rd July.Hugo is looking for local volunteers who might be able to put some of the festival leaflets through doors. If you could help with this, please email [email protected]. Do also bring your friends to these exciting events at St Mary’s!
