This Week’s Notices

Special Church Meeting: A reminder that we are inviting the whole church to come together for a special meeting to consider how we adapt to the significant changes of staffing at St Mary’s in the autumn, following the departure of Peter & Alison Wintgens and Asi Munisi. Please come on Tuesday 14th June from 7.30pm to 9.15pm so that we can take counsel together about this important matter.

Open Church-Sunday afternoons: We are hoping to keep the church open on Sunday afternoons during the next 4 months. We need volunteers to do this either 1pm-3pm or 3pm-5pm. Please sign at back of the church. Thank you Libby 07956 655 037

Revd. Peter & Alison Wintgens: If you would like to contribute to Peter and Alison’s leaving gift, please send your donation directly to the Parish Office (marked “Peter & Alison’s Leaving Gift”). Alternatively you can do the same via the Sunday collection.

Farewell Party: On Sunday 24th July there will be a leaving and picnic party after the 11am service in the Church and Churchyard. Details soon. Save the date!

Sunday Morning Study Group: The Sunday Morning Group is following a six-week course on the Lord’s Prayer starting today. The course is part of the Church of England’s Pilgrim Course designed to deepen and strengthen our relationship with God. This course is also very suitable as a stand-alone exploration of how Jesus taught us to pray.  Everyone is welcome to join this course on Sunday mornings between 9.30 and 10.45am in the Crypt. There is a sign up form at the back of the church or contact Colin Wimsett for further information.

Sound System & WiFi: Our new sound system will be installed this week. Free wifi will also be available in St Mary’s very soon.

The Queen’s 90th Birthday: There will be a special Choral Evensong service giving thanks for Her Majesty’s long life on Sunday 12th June at 6.30pm. The Preacher will be Sven Tester, who was present in Westminster Abbey on Coronation Day 1953.

“A Night at the Opera”: St Mary’s Choral Scholars and their friends in the choir will be performing a concert of operatic music in church on the evening of Friday 24th June. This will be in aid of fundraising for next year’s Choral Scholarships. Details soon.

St Mary’s Fair: This year’s Fair will take place on Saturday 17th September and offers of help are now being sought. Please contact Debbie Apostolides ([email protected]) to find out what you can do in this fun-filled fundraising afternoon.

Bellringers – On Saturday 11th June we will be attempting to ring over 5,000 changes of Stedman Triples which should take just under 3 hours to complete. It’s worth noting this is quite a challenge for the band selected as they have to perform without any major mistakes and without any breaks for the performance to count! We’re only successful when we cross the finishing line and make it to the end!

For Your Prayers
