THIS WEEK’S NOTICES
Summer Recitals: The free Summer Recitals this afternoon at 3pm, continue with a performance from Anna Cavaliero, Soprano, and the Insieme Baroque Ensemble.
Eagle-eyed members of the congregation will notice two unfamiliar musical instruments present: we are currently giving a home to a harpsichord and a fortepiano for a local professional musician and hope to use them while we do. Please do not touch them or put items on top of them.
St Mary’s Fair: This year’s Show and Fete is on Saturday 16th September from noon until 4 pm. We are now collecting items for the stalls and are looking for bottles, gifts, books, toys and bric-a-brac in good condition. Please put your items up in the gallery. No Electrical items! Also please sign up at the sheet at the back to help on a stall.
We are also holding a children’s art competition on the day and are keen to get posters and flyers out. The theme of the competition is ‘My view of Battersea.
Shoe Boxes: Junior Church needs lots of empty shoe boxes to store things in. If you have any, please would you leave them at the back of the church (right hand side on the pews as you come up the steps). We thought there might be quite a few around towards the end of the summer as people buy new school shoes! Many thanks.
A sponsored Sleepout for Glass Door on Friday 6th October at Duke of York Square in Chelsea. If you would be interested in taking part, perhaps as a family group, more details soon. Last year more than 300 people slept out, raising over £145,000 to support local homeless people.
Dates for your Diary:
September 16th St Mary’s Fete and Show (details above) from noon until 4pm
September 24th Harvest Festival Services at 8.30am and 11am
October 1st Blessing of Pets at 11am Service
Situation Vacant: Wandsworth Mediation Service is seeking a Service Manager to start in September. Details of the vacancy are posted on the back noticeboard.
Consultation on Pews & Chairs: Following the recent condition survey and architect’s report on our pews, the PCC will be consulting the congregation during September and October regarding a way forward. There will be a chance for everyone to have input. Details soon.
Teams Need Volunteers: There are some opportunities to join those who help keep the Sunday ministry of St Mary’s running smoothly: if you would be interested in being a Welcomer, reading the lessons, leading prayers or preparing the altar for worship, then please let someone wearing a badge know. Thank you.
