Choral Evensong is a particularly special service at St Mary’s. As the light fades on the day, the choir sing the praises of God as we prepare for sleep, using the hallowed words of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer:
Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, for mine eyes have seen thy salvation.
In a world that is often busy and rushed, this traditional service gives us space on a Sunday evening before we return to the rush of the working week, to pray, worship and reflect on the message of Scripture.
Choral Evensong takes place on Sunday 12th September at 6pm, and on the second and fourth Sundays of each month and last just under an hour. The following dates will be subsequent services:
Sunday 26th September
Sunday 10th October
Sunday 24th October
Sunday 14th November (Remembrance Sunday evening)
Sunday 28th November
We warmly invite you to join us for these special acts of worship.
