A good number of St Mary’s folk and other community partners are hard at work now turning our dream for Summer in the Square into a reality. You can find out more at www.summerinthesquare.co.uk.
So what is going to be happening?
The event will take place in Battersea Square, with an outlier at The Square Gallery, where we are organising an art exhibition.
The date is Saturday 15th September, from 11am to 4pm
In Battersea Square there will be a stage with various live performances going on. The stage performances will be coordinated by Wandsworth Radio, with our own Asi Munisi putting together the performing groups.
Around the Square will be plenty of stalls. Some of them will be selling food and drink, some will be providing entertainment and activity for children. These are the things we usually expect at a Fair or Fete. However, the key goal of Summer in the Square is to bring together community groups who can showcase their work for Battersea, together with people from all walks of life who call Battersea home.
This is a real opportunity for St Mary’s to make an impact on our local area. Part of what we’re trying to do is to go out to our community – that’s part of our vision – rather than waiting for the community to come to us. And that’s also why we want you to join in this big event.
There are many, many ways you can join in this event. There are things to do in August and much to do in September. The best way you can indicate a willingness to take part is to sign up in church. But if you can’t make it to church, please contact Katie Grimm ([email protected]) or Anne Hull ([email protected]).
Let’s make the best of this real opportunity to reach out to serve our neighbours.
