‘Open Church’ on Sunday afternoons – it’s that time of year again!

Last year we were able to welcome over 800 visitors to our ‘Open Church’ on Sunday afternoons thanks to the time given by many of you in the congregation.

Last year we were able to welcome over 800 visitors to our ‘Open Church’ on Sunday afternoons thanks to the time given by many of you in the congregation. We also held our Summer Recital series on Sunday afternoons between July 26th – September 6th attracting a further 246 visitors thus bringing the overall total to over 1000.

We are planning to open the church again on Sundays between 1pm and 5pm from sometime in May though to the end of September as long as we can get enough volunteers. We will also be open on the Saturday of London Open House weekend, 17th September, which is also the church fair.  There will be a summer recital series at 3pm on Sundays (dates to be confirmed).

Can you help? You do not need to have knowledge of the history of the church; you are there to make people feel welcome. There is an information sheet with a tour of the church which can be offered to visitors. Some may want the areas shown to them and others like to walk round on their own. There are also Guide books (£2) and postcards (30p) available to buy.

Sometimes visitors want to sit quietly on their own and some may want to talk. It may be helpful to point out the intercessions book. Some people may want to know the times of services and any special events so copies of the current newsletter and notices are also available.

Open Church has proved immensely worthwhile in providing a place of quiet for visitors and / or the possibility of looking around our church.  Interests are quite varied and people come from near and far.  A rota will be up on the board at the back of church so please sign up for a two hour slot when you can. A briefing session will be available for all those who volunteer, date to be confirmed.

Please contact me with any questions.

Thank you
