Film Night at the Royal College of Art, Battersea

Showing of the (in its time) controversial  film ‘Up the Junction’, which went on general release in 1968.

The film is based on a 1963 novel by Nell Dunn and followed Ken Loach’s BBC tv adaptation.

The story follows a young woman who trades her middle-class existence for a new life in Battersea – very different then from today. The movie stars Dennis Waterman, Suzy Kendal and Adrienne Posta. Nell Dunn gained her experience for the book by living in Battersea and working in one of the local factories.

After the showing Nell Dunn will speak about the background to the film.
