British churches founded Christian Aid in 1945 to support refugees who had lost their homes and possessions in the Second World War. Twelve years later, Christian Aid Week was launched to help fund this ongoing work. Sixty years on and Christian Aid Week unites 20,000 churches across the country in support for refugees around the world, fleeing from conflict, war and its disastrous effects. Christian Aid provides food, shelter and job skills training. as well as advocating policies to protect people and help them practically. The head office is in The Cut, Waterloo, London, and their work reaches out across the world.
