This Tuesday: A Public Meeting on Community Organising and the Common Good: As Revd. Aaron Kennedy takes up the reigns of our work promoting St Mary’s mission in and with our local community, he warmly invites anyone interested in finding out more about the approach of Community Organising as a way of developing this work. A special community meeting is being held in church on Tuesday at 7pm. Everyone is very welcome, irrespective of faith.

 

FaithWorks 18: Hymns & Pimm’s next Sunday 30thSeptember at 11am:

Please take invitations card and invite your friends to come sing popular hymns followed by a glass of Pimm’s. This is a special fundraiser for two charities – the ESOL Programme (English for Speakers of Other Language) at the Katherine Low Settlement, and Over the Wall, a Charity that provides life-changing activity camps for children, teenagers and families living with serious health challenges.

 

The service will include popular hymns chosen by members of St Mary’s. If you have a favourite hymn that has helped you on your faith journey or at a particular moment in your life – and would be willing to be interviewed briefly in the service by Aaron or Simon or say a few words about the reason for your choice– please contact Simon or Morven MacDonald ([email protected]) in the coming weeks as they put the service together. Please also contact Morven to offer help in serving drinks and nibbles after the service.

 

Admission of Children to Holy Communion: Classes will begin in early October. If you have a child who is 7 or older, who is keen to be admitted to Communion with your support, please contact Simon or Cal Alphonse ([email protected]) as soon as possible. Admission Service date: Sunday 25thNovember at 11am.

St Mary’s is a long-standing supporter of theKatherine Low Settlement in Battersea High Street. They are having their popular showcase AGM & party on Wednesday 3rdOctober at 7pm and we are warmly invited.

 

Coming Soon: FaithWorks 18: Sacred Heart Mission: A week of events and services in celebration of 125 years of ministry of the Salesians in Battersea. There will be a special Taize Service at St Mary’s on Wednesday 10thOctober at 7.30pm and an Ecumenical Choral Evensong in Church at 6pm on Sunday 14thOctober. Full details of all activities next week.

 

A Musical Evening in aid of the street and vulnerable children of Don Bosco Ashalayam. This will take place on Thursday 18th October 2018 at St John Bosco College, Parkham Street from 7.30pm -9pm. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance through the school with an optional donation at the end of the evening.
