Week of Prayer for Christian Unity January 21st 2018 at 6pm (Sacred Heart)
The annual prayer week seems like a great moment to gather to begin to pray for our work together in 2018. Fr. Gerry O’Shaughnessy will lead the service; Canon Simon Butler will preach.
Sacred Heart Monthly Lectures Begin January 22nd 2018 at 7pm (Sacred Heart)
As part of their reflection on what it means to be part of the community of Battersea, Sacred Heart are hosting a series of talks in the early part of the year, some historical, some about what it means to be Christian community. Simon, our Vicar, will be giving one of them.

Ecumenical Study Groups for Lent in February/March 2018 (Various Locations)
The Anglican Roman Catholic International Commission have produced an excellent Lent Course based on Pope Francis’ encyclical The Joy of the Gospel, written by Anglican Paula Gooder. We shall use this in joint Lent Groups throughout Lent. You can sign up for these groups in church. They will take place on Tuesday evening (8pm), Wednesday evening (7.30pm), Thursday afternoon (1.15pm) and Sunday morning (9.30am)
Martyrdom Pilgrimage in Central London March 17th 2018
A walking pilgrimage, led by Simon Butler, visiting the sites of Protestant and Catholic Martyrs of the 16th and 17th Century, from the Old Kent Road to Marble Arch. A good day’s walking, with stops for refreshment (public transport alternatives will be provided for those who find long walks a challenge).
Good Friday Children’s Workshop March 30th 2018 at 10am (St Mary’s)
Our popular activity morning for children from both our churches., concluding with worship.
Thy Kingdom Come (Prayer Week) May 10th—20th 2018 (Various)
An initiative of Archbishop Justin, Thy Kingdom Come is a ten-day prayer period between Ascension Day and Pentecost, which has captured the imagination of churches across the world. We will share in it together, praying for our season of mission.
FaithWorks Summer Party Date tbc (St Mary’s)
A chance for everyone involved in FaithWorks to come together to enjoy one another’s company before the big push in the autumn takes place.
Pilgrimage of Remembrance & Peace to Flanders June 1st—4th 2018
A four-day coach trip to the site of the World War 1 battlefields may seem a strange event, but in this centenary year, offers us a chance to reflect and think of the call to peace and the sacrifice of those who have died in conflict. Will also include a visit to Canterbury.
Community Showcase September 15th 2018
Replacing St Mary’s Fair this year, St Mary’s will host a showcase event in Battersea Square, giving community groups and charities a chance to highlight their work for the common good in Battersea. A day of fun, entertainment, and coming together.
Mini-Arts Festival September 29th-30th 2018:
A chance for St Mary’s to build on its reputation for celebrating the arts, this weekend will include music and other artistic events, including a special evening event when we can hear of the place of faith in the life of artists.
Hymns & Pimm’s September 30th 2018
A charitable fundraiser with a light touch evangelistic effort. We drink Pimm’s, we sing hymns, we give to a nominated charity and we celebrate all these things in the context of God’s goodness.
Half-Term Holiday Club October 22nd-26th 2018
A big joint effort with Sacred Heart to provide fun and some Christian input while children are on their holidays. Open to all, but with a focus on those who live on our local estates.
Question Time Late November 2018
A chance to quiz prominent politicians, celebrities, sports people and a bishop on the big questions of life. Chaired by a well-known face & lubricated by a glass of wine to loosen the tongues.
